The problem appears when you try to activate a copy of Windows by using Windows Activation wizard. If the organization has more than one KMS host, the other hosts might not able to update the SRV RR unless the SRV default permissions are changed.

I was told they couldn't help me. Great post, thank you. The final step is to update the KMS key, which is something not terribly well explained on the web either. For: Clean Install will make Sure you cannot roll back to your previous Windows 7 or Windows 8. Verify that the client and KMS host can communicate. Maybe you can post in-a-nutshell definitions. Now if you want to get rid of the Old Installation Windows. No Key Sol Service KMS could be contacted.

After applying the SP1 update to the KMS host, I was able to install the update, and after a reboot, we were nearly ready to start activating. Can I remove them using the technique you showed above to uninstall them? BTW the two links you posted are both the same.

- The Windows Vista KMS client threshold is twenty-five 25 physical computers. Microsoft does not use the information to identify or c ontact you.

I recently purchased a new set of Server 2012 Licenses because I'd like to start upgrading some of my servers from 2008 to the latest and greatest offerings from Microsoft. I'm a fan of KMS, and have been using that for a while here at my firm. Read full post Mike9493 wrote: Just trying to understand your environment. Are you entering that key into the new 2012 server or a 2008 server hosting your KMS role? I've tried both, at this point. I have a 2008 R2 server that has been my KMS server to date. CA-RT wrote: Call MS Volume License Service Center - they will get it resolved for ya. You'd think so - but that hasn't been the case for me - or for my Dell rep. When I called in, in fact, after being transferred around about 4 times, I was told that I needed to provide my program number. I read off the only I have - my licensing ID. That wasn't good enough. I was told they couldn't help me. I asked for a case number, they couldn't create a case. So any time I or my Dell rep have called in - I start at square one again. Needless to say, this is the kind of runaround that as a single-man IT dept doing new computer rollouts - I just don't have the time to sit on the phone with for hours and hours at a time. My Dell software rep conferenced me in on a call yesterday that came to the point where the MS Support person he'd eventually gotten transferred to wouldn't open a case either - and told us we'd have to go to the Microsoft Support page and use a CC to open a paid support case for anyone to help us with the issue. It's pretty clear that we weren't talking to the right person in retrospect - but at the time that was just infuriating to hear. Now it's just back to square one frustration in that I have a key I've paid for that doesn't work - and there doesn't seem to be a solution, or anyone I can even have a clear conversation with that's willing or able to help. The entire problem is that my information SHOULD BE VALID. That's what I'm trying to fix. I can TRY help.. Your KMS keys you see on VLSC should be for your KMS Host Server. Gonna try to tackle these: 1 I'm about 90% certain that it's the copy of Server 2008R2 I downloaded ages ago from the VLSC, so it should be the right one. It held my Windows 7 KMS key forever, so I can't imagine why there'd be an issue here, but I'll try to double-check. Seeing as how my KMS key is reporting as invalid on the TechNet trial version of 2012R2 as well, however, I'm pretty sure this isn't the issue. It might be able to help you with managing your activation keys and maybe it could help you confirm the info you have in VLSC and your image match... I'm not sure it will help - but it might be worth a shot. I would also want to confirm the image you are trying to use is a VL image and it is using your current VL media from VLSC. To me, it sounds like this could be the issue - but again I am not 100% sure.
